The tartan

A sept of clan MacLean. Here is an promising link. MacFadyen

Alternate spellings of the surname: MACFADEN MACFADYEN MACFADZEAN but not MacFadden or McFadden, even Google is incorrect thinking its misspelled, sigh..

Probably best known was Judge William E. MacFaden, California Superior Court Judge and UCLA Graduate. William had an older brother: John R. Their mother was Mrs. Grace Gregory of Redondo Beach, CA.

John R, my grandfather, served his country during WWII (15th Army Air Force (Bari, Italy and North Africa) returning home October 24, 1945. He then served again during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the US Army as a Lieutenant-Colonel. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1927 then attended USC but did not graduate (not sure why). He participated in track in 1929 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

He was a co-founder of Cathay Bank, and he also participated in bringing the 1984 Olympic Games back to Los Angeles as a member of the LA Olympic Organizing Committee (LAOOC).

His family circa 1965, I'm the baby on Moya MacFaden's lap (front bottom right):
